OK I’m sorry… we all feel bad for the Katrina victims – just as I feel bad for the victims of the bombings in Baghdad, the nuclear waste in Chernobyl and the victims of civil war, and ethnic cleansing in the Congo and some of the other places on this list.

But a city that is on a coast that is known to have hurricanes, is built below sea level in a virtual soup bowl, surrounded by levees that are known to not be able to handle the impact of a major storm event, in a country that unfortunately should have a great disaster response system, but doesn’t – is just not a great place to live.

On the other hand jazz and sex are pretty cool.
