Luanda, Angola
Population:
4 million
Worst Feature:
Poverty, War, Disease
Best Feature:
A beautiful coastline, but the beach probably still has Landmines
27 years of Civil War has left Luanda, Angola another African Capital City
on our “why does anyone live there list.”
While technically the fighting was
has been over in Angola for several years since a cease fire was reached in
2002 with a tenuous piece between the warring factions, almost thirty years
of unrest have left their toll.
Areas are still without electricity or
reliable running water, children play in four to five foot high garbage
heaps. Cholera, malaria and other diseases, not to mention HIV/AIDS are
rampaging.
