Camden, N.J.
Population:
80,125
Worst Feature:
Crime and Poverty
Best Feature:
Site of the first Church of Scientology – or maybe that should be the “Worst
Feature” – but I don’t want to get yelled at by Tom Cruise.
While Campbell Soup's corporate offices have been in Camden for decades, its
Camden
plant closed in 1996.
To ad insult to injury – it has also lost its
most dubious
crown to Compton, California. After being named The Most
Dangerous City in the United States for 2002, 2004, and 2005 – it has
slipped to Number 3 in 2006.
High poverty is to blame – more than a third of
Camden’s residents live below the poverty level. But cheer up Camden you
still can claim a Mayor, Milton Milan that was convicted of racketeering and
other ties to Organized Crime, and can still claim to be the home of
Americans first Serial Killer, Howard Unruh who killed 13 back in 1949.
Regardless of what town you are from, you are still a resident of New
Jersey, and that means you have the Real Housewives on your side. The ladies
with big hair, too much make up, and more
breast reconstruction than brain cells. Go Jersey."
