Barcelona, Spain
Population:
1.6 Maoning Million
Worst Feature:
Grumpy cheeky intolerant people. Crime both petty and major
Best Feature:
It can “lay” claim to the world’s first Museum of Erotica
Unlike Madrid, which has at least some history, cultural diversity, and a
relatively low crime rate for a European Capital, Barcelona is a dirty,
smelly, and expensive by most accounts.
A pint of beer costs about 16
dollars.
People are very rude.
It is often hot and uncomfortable. I know we
are talking about worst places to live on this list, and not “visit” – but
before you consider relocation to Barcelona, I’ve been told that “Rip-off”
of foreigners seems to be the national past time in Barcelona. Cab drivers
are notorious for taking out of the way “short cuts”, and restaurants are
known for a scam were they bring you over “free” samples only to later
charge you for them.
Authorities just seem to shrug their shoulders at such
practices.
Worse crimes are prevalent at night. Barcelona has the highest
crime rate of any major city in Spain, with drug deals and prostitution
openly practiced after dark.
